Double Deep pallet racking

Double Deep pallet racking is a special type of Selective racking, created by two racks set up back to back creating the double deep pallet storage system.

It is used in warehouses to increase storage efficiency and pallet density.

Double Deep pallet racking includes 6 basic details:

  • Upright frames: Bearing for the whole system.
  • Horizontal braces: Dispersing force between the upright frames.
  • Load beams: Connecting between 2 upright frames and is the place to put pallets.
  • Footplates: Connecting the upright frames to the floor and keeping the system steady.
  • Guard rails: Protecting the upright frames from the collisions.
  • Pallet rails: Supporting to keep pallets stable.

- Using special forklifts to take the pallets deep in the racks.

- Increasing storage capacity compared with Selective Racking.

- The investment cost of the Double Deep racking is approximately Selective racking's.

- A pallet is placed behind the other towards the back of the pallet rack.

- The staff must take the outside pallet before taking the one inside.
To reach the second unit, the first pallet has to be moved “Last in – First out – (LIFO)”.
